An Innocent Childhood Drawing..

Back in preschool, our teacher gave us a simple assignment: draw a picture of our family. I proudly sketched four people and carefully labeled them in my messy handwriting: “Me, my brother, Dad, and Aunt Susan.”

When my teacher noticed that my mom wasn’t included in the drawing, she became concerned and decided to call my mother to ask if everything was okay. My mom was surprised and waited until we got home to ask me about it.

She gently smiled and said, “Olivia, why didn’t you draw Mom?” Without thinking twice, I gave the most honest answer my little mind could come up with.

I said, “Because Mom is so beautiful, and I can’t draw beautifully!” Everyone burst into laughter, and the misunderstanding disappeared. As for poor Aunt Susan—who accidentally took Mom’s place in my masterpiece—I hope she’ll forgive me!
