It was a quiet, chilly evening in the backyard, the kind where the fading twilight turns everything a soft shade of blue. The kids were happily occupied in their plastic sandbox, completely engrossed in whatever imaginary world they were building in the sand.
But peace in a yard with a large dog is usually temporary.Suddenly, a massive burst of canine energy shattered the calm. The family dog—a large and entirely too enthusiastic blur of black fur—came barreling across the lawn.
Completely oblivious to his own size, and to the obstacle in front of him, he charged straight for the sandbox. In a chaotic tangle of paws, winter coats, and flying sand, he tumbled right over the little girl, knocking her flat into the middle of the plastic pool. Before the dust could even settle,
Dad sprang into action. Sprinting across the grass in a flash, he lunged into the fray, grabbing the dog by the harness to wrangle him away from the startled kids. As the chaotic zoomies were finally brought under control, the little girl sat up in the sand, a little bewildered but safe, while her sibling watched the sudden whirlwind with wide eyes. Just another standard evening of backyard chaos!
