A man was arrested Saturday afternoon at President Donald Trump’s golf resort in Florida after an altercation with Secret Service agents at a security checkpoint. According to officials, the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. at a screening station staffed by federal agents and local law enforcement. Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Townsend said the suspect became disruptive, refused to follow lawful orders, and made physical contact with a Secret Service agent before being taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was later booked by Doral police on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence.
Trump had reportedly visited the property earlier that day with family members ahead of a PGA Tour event taking place at the resort. Due to increased crowds for the tournament, security screening measures around the property had been tightened. After the confrontation, officers transported the suspect to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. Video shared online by commentator Nick Sortor appeared to show the man in handcuffs near a checkpoint, with reports suggesting he triggered the magnetometers during screening. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity or any possible motive behind the incident.
The arrest came shortly after renewed discussions about security threats surrounding Trump, including references to the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna recently claimed during a podcast interview that the Butler attack may have involved what she described as “intentional negligence” by officials during the Biden administration. Luna questioned the handling of the investigation and criticized federal agencies such as the FBI, arguing that unresolved issues surrounding the case continue to raise concerns.
Luna also focused on security planning failures at the Butler rally, saying certain unsecured areas created ideal conditions for the shooter. She referenced congressional hearings involving former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and cited whistleblower allegations suggesting some security personnel may have been absent or instructed to stand down. The Butler attack resulted in Trump being injured in the ear, one attendee being killed, and several others wounded before the gunman, identified as Thomas Crooks, was shot and killed by the Secret Service. Luna further questioned why the suspect reportedly possessed multiple phones, suggesting that several aspects of the case remain unresolved.
