Hero bystander who risked own life to disarm Bondi Beach gunman is identified

A father of two from Sydney is being praised as a hero after risking his life to stop a gunman during a terrifying mass shooting at Bondi Beach. Ahmed al Ahmed, a fruit shop owner with no formal training, chose to intervene instead of fleeing when the violence began. Acting on instinct, he stepped into danger, fully aware of the risk to his own life.

During the confrontation, Ahmed was shot twice but still managed to overpower the attacker. Witnesses described how he waited for the right moment, then rushed the gunman, putting him in a headlock and taking control of the weapon.
