…SMALL ACTS OF KINDNESS CAN CHANGE SOMEONE’S LIFE…

After my twin brother Rob died two years ago, I kept his phone number active, and one day a stranger texted him, thinking he had seen Rob at a corner store. When I called back, his colleague sent me a photo of myself and discovered the truth: I was Rob’s twin. He cried as he explained that Rob had been the only person who regularly checked on him, and now he didn’t know whom to call. I gave him my number, not to replace Rob, but to remind him he wasn’t alone. Sometimes, kindness comes from a manager who notices your struggles instead of firing you, a mother who calmly says she was worried after weeks of silence, or a coworker who offers you a snack after a difficult mistake rather than making you feel worse. After losing my own mother, my job, and nearly everyone I could turn to, a stranger at a dollar store recognized the grief in my eyes because he had lost his mother too. What began as an unexpected encounter became a friendship, and now we check on each other almost every day. These moments remind us that grief, loneliness, and difficult days can make life feel unbearable, but a little patience, a gentle question, or simply being there can make all the difference. Sometimes, we cannot fix someone’s pain, but we can remind them that they don’t have to carry it alone.
