Two 14-year-old friends, **Derrick Hubbard Jr. and George Watts**, tragically died after becoming trapped beneath sand at a sandpit near Sportsman’s Park in Inverness, Florida, on January 11. The boys had been digging tunnels in a hole about four to five feet deep when the sand collapsed around them. Their families became concerned when they failed to return for lunch, and their abandoned bicycles and shoes led rescuers to the site. Firefighters eventually found George unconscious but with a pulse and later recovered Derrick without a pulse; despite the rescue efforts, both boys died. Their families remembered them as inseparable friends who were deeply loved and full of life, curiosity, and dreams for the future….
