After their mother died, a stepdad devoted 23 years to raising his two children alone, never taking a single vacation or spending money on himself.
At his daughter’s wedding reception, she surprised him during her speech by telling him to look under his plate, where he found an envelope containing two first-class tickets to Portugal—the dream trip he had talked about for years but never believed he could afford.
