She Came Back 14 Years Later With a Wedding Invitation..

My sister died suddenly, leaving behind her 7-year-old daughter. I begged my husband to adopt my niece, but he refused, saying, “We’re not an orphanage! I’m not feeding a stranger!” My niece was placed in foster care, and soon afterward, my husband and I moved to another city. I never knew what happened to her, but I never stopped thinking about her.

Fourteen years later, there was a knock at our door. When I opened it, I froze—standing there was a young woman who looked exactly like my sister. It was my niece. I feared she might be angry after all those years, but instead, she smiled and handed me an envelope.

Inside was a wedding invitation. She was getting married and wanted us to be there. Then she said, “You and your kids are the only family I have. I don’t want my future children to grow up without family like I did.” Her words brought tears to my eyes.

Then came the biggest surprise: she asked my husband to walk her down the aisle. He said yes, with tears filling his eyes. After everything she had been through, my niece had chosen forgiveness and love—and I’ll always be grateful for the kind heart she showed us.
