..The Little Lessons My Children Taught Me..

When the park was rained out, I expected my son to spend the day sulking. Instead, he grabbed some paper, pencils, and a board game he had invented called “Indoor Adventure.” He turned a disappointing day into an exciting challenge and reminded me that creativity can completely change the way we experience setbacks.

Another day, I found my son and daughter arguing over a blanket. I expected tears and shouting, but my son calmly suggested a schedule: “You get it for one hour, then I get it, then we read together.” They agreed, and it worked perfectly. Watching them negotiate fairly taught me that children can sometimes handle conflict with more patience and common sense than we expect.

After a long day at work, I came home expecting a messy living room, scattered toys, and another problem to deal with. Instead, the floor was spotless, the cushions were neatly stacked, and my daughter was quietly coloring at the table. When I asked why she had cleaned everything, she simply smiled and said, “I thought it would make you happy.”

Those small moments reminded me that children are constantly teaching us, too. They can show us creativity when things go wrong, fairness when conflicts arise, and kindness when we least expect it. Their little successes may seem ordinary, but celebrating them helps build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
