After 30 years as a police officer, Mark Horsley took on an unusual undercover assignment in Vancouver in 2015, posing as a wheelchair user with a brain injury to see whether someone would target him amid a series of attacks and robberies against people in wheelchairs. Over five days and more than 300 encounters, nobody tried to rob him. Instead, strangers helped him, warned him to be careful, returned extra change, offered prayers, shared their own struggles, and even gave him money despite having little themselves.
